Dr. Anil Bhardwaj

Dr. Anil Bhardwaj has made fundamental contributions in the field of Planetary and Space Sciences, particularly in the area of Solar System X-rays Astronomy, Lunar Solar Wind interaction, Multi-wavelength observations of Planetary Bodies, Planetary Aurora and Dayglow Processes, and Cometary Coma Chemistry and Emissions.

He has been the Principal Investigator for vital payloads on India’s missions to Moon, the Chandrayaan-1, and to Mars, the Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM). He has been the Director of Space Physics Laboratory, Thiruvananthapuram and is currently the Director of the prestigious Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad. Dr. Bhardwaj has over 130 refereed publications and several chapters in books.

Dr. Bhardwaj has received many awards and honours, including the coveted Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize (2007) and Infosys Prize in Physical Sciences (2016). ISRO honored him with the Outstanding Achievement Award in 2017. He is a Fellow of all the three Science Academies of India and a member of the International Academy of Astronautics and International Astronomical Union.
