2. News on APRSAF: Water Rocket Event

Delegations from each country for the APRSAF-18 Water Rocket Event have been selected. This year, participants from more than 15 countries will gather in Singapore to compete and communicate with each other.

In Wakayama Prefecture, Japan, in October, secondary school students selected as a delegation visited a water rocket event held at a local primary school. They gave some tips for making and launching rockets and demonstrated their launching technique. This event stands as an exciting outreach activity for space education.

3. News from APRSAF community: WSW 2011 in Bangladesh
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
The celebration of World Space Week (WSW) 2011 was held in Enayetpur, Bangladesh, from October 3 to 5. It was jointly organized by the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA), the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and the Bangladesh Astronomical Society (BAS). In tandem with World Space Week, a capacity-building workshop on astronomy was conducted, aiming to enhance the capacity of secondary teachers in their teaching of basic and modern astronomy and foster its introduction to the school curricula.

4. News from APRSAF community: SSTA to present GSTC 2012

The Global Space & Technology Convention (GSTC) 2012 will be held on February 9 and 10, 2012, in Singapore, hosted by the Singapore Space & Technology Association (SSTA). GSTC 2012 will showcase the latest space products and design concepts and provide an up-to-date view of the rapidly developing space industry in Asia.

5. ISRO's PSLV successfully launches Megha-Tropiques
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
The India Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C18) successfully launched the Megha-Tropiques earth observation satellite and three other satellites on October 12. The Megha-Tropiques mission is jointly conducted by India and France and is meant to study the water cycle and energy exchanges in tropical regions. Data from the satellite is expected to contribute to improving scientific knowledge on climate and weather systems that affect our daily life, especially in the tropical region.

6. Australia Announces Principles for a National Space Industry Policy
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
On September 26, Australian Senator Kim Carr, Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research, announced the release of principles for a national space industry policy that will be the backbone and direction of further space-policy development. Over the coming year, Carr's department will collect opinions on the principles from industry, researchers, and the space community.
