The 23rd session of APRSAF (APRSAF-23) was held successfully in Manila, the Philippines, on November 15-18, 2016. A total of 576 participants from 33 countries and regions and 10 international organizations attended the meeting. - Launch success of HTV6 onboard the H-IIB Launch Vehicle F6.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) successfully launched the H-IIB Launch Vehicle No. 6 (H-IIB F6) to the International Space Station (ISS) with a cargo transporter, the "KOUNOTORI6" (HTV6), on board at 1:26:47 pm (GMT) on December 9, 2016, from the Tanegashima Space Center. The HTV6 delivers a total of 5.9 metric tons of cargo to the ISS, including 3.9 metric tons in the Pressurized Logistics Carrier (PLC) and 1.9 metric tons in the Unpressurized Logistics Carrier (ULC).

The HTV6 was captured by the ISS robotic arm on December 13 at 10:39 am (GMT) and berthed to the ISS at 6:24 pm (GMT).

- UNOOSA and UAESA organized a High Level Forum in Dubai.

The United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) and the United Arab Emirates Space Agency (UAESA) jointly organized the "High Level Forum: Space as a Driver for Socio-Economic Sustainable Development" in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on November 20-24, 2016.

Objectives of the Forum include the presentation of lessons learned and new ideas in the four thematic areas of space economy, space society, space accessibility, and space diplomacy, as well as all their interactions and inter-linkages. The Forum adopted the "Dubai Declaration" to further shape and position space activities as drivers for innovation, socio-economic development, and diplomacy for a sustainable future.
