Shri Piyush Srivastava is a career diplomat. He joined Indian Foreign Service (IFS) in 1998. Shri Piyush Srivastava is presently working as Joint Secretary (BIMSTECH & SAARC) in the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.
Shri Srivastava has earlier served in PAI (Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran) and Southern Divisions of Ministry of External Affairs. He has served at senior positions in Indian Embassies in Germany, Bhutan, Nepal and in Indian High Commission in Ghana in different Wings - Political, Commercial & Economic Cooperation, Information and Media, to name a few. Shri Srivastava has acquired rich experience and knowledge of India’s neighbourhood, extended neighbourhood (South East Asia and Pacific) and economic diplomacy.
During his tenure as the Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of India, Kathmandu, he coordinated Government of India’s relief and rescue efforts in wake of the major earthquake in Nepal in April 2015.
Prior to taking charge of Joint Secretary (BIMSTECH and SAARC), Shri Srivastava served as Joint Secretary in the country's premier foreign policy think tank, Indian Council of World Affairs.
Shri Srivastava holds B.Tech. and M.Tech. degrees in Materials & Metallurgical Engineering from IIT Kanpur.
