Mr. Hun Kim

Mr. Hun Kim is the Director General of Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) South Asia Department. He assumed office in July 2014.

Mr. Kim oversees the operations of seven sector divisions and six country offices in South Asia region as well as regional cooperation initiatives. The six countries include Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka.

Mr. Kim joined ADB in 1991, and has since occupied progressively responsible positions. He was assigned to various country and project operations in China, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, among others.

In December 2004, he was appointed as Director for Urban Development in the South Asia Department. In February 2010, Mr. Kim was transferred to the ADB's India Country Office as Country Director where he stayed for 4 years.

Prior to joining ADB, Mr. Kim had 8 years of experience in research and finance in Korea and the USA.

Mr. Kim is a national of the Republic of Korea. He holds a Doctorate degree in Applied Economics from the University of Minnesota in U.S. and obtained his Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Economics from Yonsei University in Republic of Korea.
