Mr. Kitamura has been in charge of examination business based on the Space Activity Act mainly as Deputy Director of the National Space Policy Secretariat, Cabinet Office from June, 2019.

He has belonged to various departments related to science and technology policy since 1996, and has been in charge of safety regulation in the nuclear field, promotion of industry-academia collaboration, ethical guidelines for medical research, and so on.

From 1999 to 2000, he was also involved in the space field at the Office for International Cooperation in the Space Policy Division of the former Science and Technology Agency (STA) and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), and was involved in holding APRSAF-6 & 7.
