Dr. John Mathew

Dr. John Mathew is currently functioning as Associate Director for Land & Water Applications at Earth Observation Applications & Disaster Management Support Programme Office, in ISRO Head Quarters Bangalore. He is a Geoscientist with more than 25 years of experience in EO applications in Water Resources, Geoscience and Disaster Management domains.
His research has been primarily in quantifying the role of rainfall as a triggering factor for landslides and also in developing coupled hydrological - slope stability model for Himalayan terrain. He has also been involved with the development of Crustal Deformation Monitoring programme in ISRO, and in integrating SAR interferometric data for monitoring co-seismic deformation.
He is currently involved with formulating programmes for Earth Observation application solutions in the domains of ground & surface water, and mineral resources. In his capacity as Associate Programme Director for Disaster Management Support, he is also associated with formulating new research programmes on the use of Space based inputs towards Disaster Risk Reduction.
