Muhammad Rokhis Khomarudin is head of research center for Geoinformatics under National Research and Innovation Agency, Indonesia (BRIN). he is a researcher in the field of remote sensing technology and geomatics who have long been involved in the research of remote sensing applications, especially in the fields of environment and disaster management. He graduated and received his PhD in Geography of Remote Sensing from Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich in 2010. In his professional career, he was the head of the Department of Environment and Disaster Management from 2011 to 2014 and the Director of Remote Sensing Applications Center at the National Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (LAPAN) from 2014 to 2021.
In his career as a researcher, he has authored more than 100 articles in the form of papers, book sections, and scientific proceedings in Indonesian and English. He is currently the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal on Remote Sensing and Earth Sciences (IJRESES).
Currently, he is a member of Indonesian Agricultural Meteorological Association (PERHIMPI), member of Indonesian Society of Remote Sensing Experts (MAPIN) and Head of Indonesian Research Association for Jakarta regions. In the international world, he also serves as the coordinator of RSO UNSPIDER (Regional Supporting Office United Nations on Space Information for Disaster Emergency Response) 2016-2021, Sentinel Asia, and has participated several times as a delegation of the Republic of Indonesia in the UN COPUOS Session and the Technical Working Group (TWG) on Transboundary Haze Pollutions in ASEAN.
