1. The 26th International Symposium on Space Technology and Science (ISTS), June 1-11, Japan

This year the 26th symposium was held in Hamamatsu, Japan.
The next ISTS (The 27th ISTS) will be held in Tsukuba, Japan, in 2009.

There were 852 participants from 23 countries and over 700 papers were submitted to the symposium. Interviews with GISTDA, ANGKASA, and LAPAN are as follows.

2. The 1st Joint Project Team Meeting for Sentinel Asia Step 2 (1st JPTM for SA2) Successfully Ended, June 6, Kobe, Japan

The 1st JPTM for SA2 ended its two-day program on June 6 2008, in Kobe, Japan. A total of 63 people representing 30 organizations from 18 countries and 7 international organizations attended this meeting.

3. China Launched New Communications Satellite

On June 9, China launched a communications satellite, Zhongxing-9, from the south-west of China. Zhongxing-9 will be used for live television broadcasts.

4. Event of Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Philippines
------------------------------------------------------------------------
DOST is hosting the 8th ASEAN Science and Technology Week (ASTW) celebration on July 1-11, 2008 in Manila, Philippines. This event also coincides with the 50th anniversary of DOST and the country's annual
celebration of National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) with the theme “Making Science Work for You.”
