1. Second Announcement of APRSAF-15 (Hanoi and Ha Long Bay, Viet Nam)

2. National Remote Sensing Agency (NRSA) became an Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Centre, September 1
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Considering the importance of the activities carried out in the fields of aerial and satellite remote sensing, the National Remote Sensing Agency (NRSA), an autonomous society under the Department of Space (DOS), was converted into a full-fledged government organization called the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) on September 1, 2008.

3. China Launched Satellites to Monitor Natural Disasters

On September 6, 2008, China launched two satellites to monitor the environment and natural disasters.

4. China Launched Its Third Manned Spacecraft (Shenzhou-7) Successfully
------------------------------------------------------------------------

The manned spacecraft Shenzhou-7 was launched on 25th September from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in north western Gansu Province. The mission includes the country's first ever spacewalk.

5. [[Series 4: PSLV Successfully Launched Ten Satellites]] IMS-1, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), India
------------------------------------------------------------------------

The first mission of the Indian Mini Satellite Series, IMS-1, has been developed by taking advantage of improvements in technology and miniaturization. IMS-1 is a state-of-the-art, small satellite mission carrying miniaturized versions of hyperspectral and multi-spectral cameras.

6. Report of the United Nations/Indonesia Regional Workshop on Integrated Space Technology Applications to Water Resources Management, Environmental Protection and Disaster Vulnerability Mitigation, Indonesia - July 7 - 11
------------------------------------------------------------------------

This workshop focused on using space technologies to improve management of both water and the environment, and to reduce natural disasters such as floods, droughts, water-related disasters caused by climate change, deforestation, forest fires, and land use.
More than 100 people from the following countries and the Office for Outer Space Affairs attended the Workshop: Republic of Indonesia, Islamic Republic of Iran, Republic of Iraq, Lao People's Democratic
Republic, Republic of Maldives, Union of Myanmar, Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, The Republic of the Sudan, Syrian Arab Republic, Kingdom of Thailand, and Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.
