1. Second GEO Forest Monitoring Symposium
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Symposium being organized by GISTDA, JAXA, CSIRO, ESA, etc. will be held in Chiang Rai, Thailand on 1-3 July 2009. The Symposium will contribute the occasion for further advance in the assessment and
consolidation of the operational features of a GEOSS Forest Monitoring System of Systems (GEOSS) being developed by GEO.

2. JAXA-AIT Mini Projects 2009/2010
------------------------------------------------------------------------
JAXA is currently inviting interested agencies to apply for Mini-Projects. The main feature of Mini-Projects is to carry out end-to-end capacity building activities through projects on real-world problems. Mini-projects have been recognized as a part of JAXA's international capacity building activities which support JAXA-initiated projects such as Sentinel Asia (http://dmss.tksc.jaxa.jp/sentinel/) and SAFE (http://www.eorc.jaxa.jp/SAFE/).

3. Report on Pacific GIS & RS User Conference 2008
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The 2008 Pacific GIS&RS User Conference organized by an independent conference committee with members from SOPAC, USP, FLIS, FEA and NLTB was held in Suva on 2-5 December 2008. About 150 persons attended the conference coming from 13 different countries. During the 4 days nearly 50 power point presentations and verbal speeches were given.
