4. HAYABUSA Returns Successfully to the Earth
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
The Japanese asteroid explorer “HAYABUSA” returned to the Earth successfully on 13 June 2010, after about a seven-year return journey to the asteroid Itokawa. A capsule which separated from HAYABUSA safely touched down, and was later retrieved, in the Woomera Prohibited Area (WPA), Australia.
It was confirmed that minute particles were found in the sampler capsule, and that these are now being examined to see whether they are from Itokawa.
