3. Oceansat-2 ground station inaugurated
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
According to The Hindu dated September 12, an Oceansat-2 (IRS) ground station was inaugurated at the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) on the day. The ground station was established by the Department of Space (DOS) and INCOIS to receive and process data from the Ocean Colour Monitor (OCM) on board Oceansat-2 in real time. The ocean color data from OCM, indicating chlorophyll concentration, will be integrated with sea surface temperature data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) satellites to provide Potential Fishing Zone (PFZ) information services in India. The ground station is planned to be used to receive data from earth observation satellites to be launched by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in the future for the study of oceans.

4. Kazcosmos and DLR discuss cooperation
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
On September 14, the National Space Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Kazcosmos) announced that it had held a conference in Astana with the German Aerospace Center (DLR) to discuss their joint projects in the field of space. The projects will be carried out within the framework of the cooperation agreement between the DLR and Kazcosmos on the peaceful use and study of space. The agreement was signed in July 2010.

The conference, in particular, focused on cooperation in promoting the use of remote sensing, test production of space technology components, and producing Kazakh specialists. Other topics were 1) eROSITA (the extended Roentgen Survey with an Imaging Telescope Array), which is now under development by the Max Planck Institute of Germany and which will be carried on the Russian "Spectrum-Roentgen-Gamma" (SRG) satellite Spektr-RG, and 2) the European global navigation satellite system, Galileo, in Kazakhstan.
