- APRSAF-19 online registration starts
Online registration for APRSAF-19 is now available on the following URL:
https://secure.mediatelier.com/aprsaf19/regist.php
The deadline for registration is Wednesday, October 31, 2012.

 

The second announcement about the APRSAF-19 will soon be released on the
APRSAF website:

We will announce its release to APRSAF community members via e-mail and
on the website.

 

- Call for proposals for new SAFE prototyping
The SAFE Secretariat would like to invite you to submit your new
proposal of SAFE prototyping. All the proposals received at the
Secretariat will be reviewed by a review board meeting at the SAFE
workshop on December 10, during the session of APRSAF-19. Some templates
can be downloaded from the SAFE portal site. The deadline for submission
is Friday, October 26. The SAFE Secretariat is looking forward to your
proposal.

- 9th Korea-Japan Joint Seminar on Space Environment Utilization
Research held in August

 

The 9th Korea-Japan Joint Seminar on Space Environment Utilization
Research was held on August 30 and 31 at JAXA's Tsukuba Space Center.
South Korean and Japanese experts and researchers on space environment
utilization reported on their progress in ongoing projects, and they
exchanged ideas for future expansion of research. The next joint seminar
is scheduled to be held in Korea in 2013.

3. ISRO successfully launches SPOT 6
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
On September 9, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)
successfully launched the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C21)
carrying the French SPOT 6 Earth observation satellite and a Japanese
microsatellite, PROITERES (Project of Osaka Institute of Technology
Electric-Rocket-Engine onboard Small Space Ship). India's Prime Minister,
Manmohan Singh, witnessed the launch because it is ISRO's 100th space
mission.

4. KARI and MEST start CubeSat contest
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
On August 17, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology of Korea
(MEST) and the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) announced that
they would conduct a CubeSat contest for undergraduate and graduate
students in the country. The contest aims to train capable professionals
by providing students with opportunities in design, production, launch,
and operation. Applications will be accepted up to October 31.

 

Two stages of review will be carried out to evaluate mission design
originality, development feasibility, and design quality, and three
finalist teams will be selected. Certificates from KARI will be given to
teams producing a Flight Model (FM), and an opportunity to launch
CubeSat will be provided to the teams.

5. GISTDA holds a seminar on water management
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
On August 15, the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development
Agency of Thailand (GISTDA) held a seminar related to the Terms of
Reference (TOR) for designing water management in Thailand, entitled
"GISTDA Resources and Capability Relevant to TOR. Flood-Drought in
Thailand." The aim of the seminar was to clarify details of the
conceptual plan for designing construction of a sustainable water
resource management system and a flood prevention system.
