The 21st session of the Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum (APRSAF-21) will be held next week, from December 2 to 5, 2014, in Tokyo, Japan.

* 2. News on APRSAF: JPTM2014 held

The Joint Project Team Meeting for Sentinel Asia (JPTM2014) was held in Yangon, Myanmar, from November 18 to 21, 2014.

The outcome of JPTM2014 will be presented at the plenary session of APRSAF-21.

* 4. Australia to start algae blooms detection system using RS technology
+----------------------------------------------------------------+

An early detection project for blue-green algae blooms will be developed over two years using optical remote sensing technologies, resulting from efforts by the Commonwealth Science and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) and the New South Wales government of Australia. The new system is expected to contribute to decrease the harmful impact of blooms on human health, the environment, and regional economics.

* 5. ASNARO-1 and other microsatellites successfully launched

On November 6, 2014, the Japanese demonstration satellite, Advanced Satellite with New system Architecture for Observation (ASNARO-1), and four other microsatellites were successfully launched by a Dnepr Launch Vehicle from Yasny Launch Base, Russia. The four piggyback microsatellites, Hodoyoshi-1, ChubuSat-1, QSAT-EOS, and TSUBAME, were developed by Japanese universities respectively.

* 6. ISRO and AEM agree on MoU on peaceful use of outer space
+----------------------------------------------------------------+

The Sixth India-Mexico Joint Commission Meeting (JCM) was held on October 22, 2014 in New Delhi, India. Bilateral relations on science and technology, space, and other issues and multilateral issues between India and the Community of Latin American Caribbean States (CELAC) and Pacific Alliance were discussed.

Both countries emphasized the importance of cooperation in the field of science and technology and discussed the possibility of cooperation in seismology, renewable energy, biotechnology, healthcare, and solar energy. After the discussion, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the Mexican Space Agency (AEM) signed an MoU on the peaceful use of outer space.
