* 1. News on APRSAF: APRSAF-22 First Announcement Released

The first announcement of the 22nd session of the Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum (APRSAF-22) has been released. APRSAF-22 will be held from December 1-4, 2015 in Bali, Indonesia, with the theme "Sharing Solutions through Synergy in Space." It will be jointly organized by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education of Indonesia (RISTEK-DIKTI), the National Institute of Aeronautics and Space, Indonesia (LAPAN), the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan (MEXT), and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA).

* 2. News on APRSAF: Call for Proposals: APRSAF-22 Side Event

The APRSAF Secretariat is accepting proposals for the APRSAF Side Events to be held during the APRSAF-22 annual session in December in Bali, Indonesia.
An "APRSAF Side Event" is a meeting, conference, or other similar event, related to the APRSAF goals and objectives, proposed and performed by APRSAF participating organizations during the APRSAF annual session. For details, please refer to the following:

* 3. News on APRSAF: Space Exploration and Kibo Utilization for Asia Workshop Successfully Held in Jakarta
+----------------------------------------------------------------+
The 1st Space Exploration and Kibo Utilization for Asia Workshop, organized by the Space Environment Utilization Working Group (SEUWG) and hosted by the National Institute of Aeronautics and Space of Indonesia (LAPAN), was successfully held on May 28, 2015 in Jakarta, Indonesia. The workshop venue was filled with approximately 100 participants from 15 organizations.
By sharing the latest information about future space development and utilization, the participants recognized the importance of increasing the number and quality of researchers in institutes and expanding cooperation with related organizations in Asian countries. To achieve this in Indonesia, it was recognized that LAPAN was expected to play a key role in advancing efforts. Results of the workshop will be reported at APRSAF-22 in Bali, Indonesia, in December 2015.

* 4. News on APRSAF: 7th SAFE Workshop Successfully Held in Ho Chi Minh City

The 7th Space Application for Environment (SAFE) Workshop was successfully held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, on June 17, 2015. The workshop was jointly organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Institute of Resources Geography (HCMIRG) of Vietnam and Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). The workshop report will be posted in the SAFE Portal in due course.

* 5. News from APRSAF Community: Call for Papers: IAA Climate Change and Disaster Management Conference
+----------------------------------------------------------------+
The International Academy of Astronautics (IAA) and the newly founded Mexican Space Agency (AEM) are holding a conference on climate change and disaster management in Mexico City on September 17, 2015, followed by the IAA Heads of Space Agencies Summit on September 18, 2015. On this occasion, the new scope of future systems and various enabling technologies will be discussed and identified based on the real needs experienced during recent global disasters.
Participants, both from the ground systems and the space systems, are most welcome to join the discussion to envisage and establish new common goals of disaster management and mitigation. For those interested in contributing a paper for presentation at the Conference, the submission deadline for abstracts is June 30, 2015. * 7. ISRO and KARI Conclude Agreement in Lunar Exploration, Satellite Navigation, and Space Science

On May 18, 2015, India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi and South Korea's President Park Geun-hye held a meeting and agreed to upgrade their bilateral relationship to a special strategic partnership.
In the presence of both heads, several cooperation agreements and MOUs were signed. In the space field, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) concluded a cooperation agreement in lunar exploration, satellite positioning, and space science.

* 8. LAPAN Chairman Announced Future Plan
+----------------------------------------------------------------+
The National Institute of Aeronautics and Space of Indonesia (LAPAN) announced on May 25 that LAPAN and the State University of Semarang (UNNES) signed a cooperation agreement on research and education.
After the signing ceremony, LAPAN Chairman, Prof. Dr. Thomas Djamaluddin, stated a plan of space development in Indonesia: LAPAN's second microsatellite, LAPAN-A2, along with India's first astronomy satellite, Astrosat-1, is scheduled to be launched by an Indian Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle in August 2015, and LAPAN-A3 will be launched in 2016. He added that the development of LAPAN-A4 was in progress.
