- "Asian Try Zero-G 2016" was performed aboard International Space Station
On September 14, "Asian Try Zero-G 2016" microgravity experiments, a program of APRSAF's Kibo-ABC Initiative, was conducted by JAXA astronaut Takuya Onishi in "Kibo" Japanese experiment module of International Space Station (ISS). He performed five experiments selected from over 120 proposals from APRSAF member countries. Proposers from Indonesia, Thailand, and Singapore visited JAXA's Tsukuba Space Center to observe the operation in real time, with the coordination by the members of Kibo-ABC in each country. Video is available on Kibo Utilization Office for Asia (KUOA) web site: http://iss.jaxa.jp/en/kuoa/news/try_zero_g_2016_0914.html

- "2nd Japan-Australia GEO-LEO Applications Workshop" held in Tokyo, Japan.
On September 1 and 2, "2nd Japan-Australia GEO-LEO Applications Workshop", organized by JAXA, was held in Tokyo, Japan. This workshop is a follow-up to the workshop on "Non-Meteorological Applications for Next Generation Geostationary Satellites" held in August 2015 in Brisbane, Australia. Japan and Australia are working in collaboration for the use of geostationary earth observing satellites, especially in combination with low Earth orbit (LEO) observing satellites. About 30 participants attended the workshop to discuss and confirm focus projects for the GEO-LEO Initiative (in two key application areas: hotspot/haze monitoring and ocean parameter monitoring (SST, ocean colour)), taking into account end-users and societal values.
