* 1. APRSAF-24 Updates

- First announcement of APRSAF-24 to be issued in May

The 24th session of the Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum (APRSAF-24) will be held on November 14-17, 2017, in Bengaluru, India. The first announcement of the APRSAF-24 will be published in May.

The APRSAF-24 will be organized jointly by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan (MEXT), and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). The main theme of APRSAF-24 is "Space Technology for Enhanced Governance and Development."

- Sentinel Asia Joint Project Meeting was held in Hanoi, Vietnam

The fourth Joint Project Team Meeting for Sentinel Asia Step3 (JPTM2017) was held at the Vietnam Academy of Science & Technology (VAST), in Hanoi, Vietnam, on March 8-9, 2017. The meeting was organized jointly by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) of Vietnam, and the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST).

- APRSAF/SAFE-UNESCAP Meeting will take place in Bangkok on May 15, 2017

The Space Applications For Environment (SAFE) will hold the APRSAF/SAFE-UNESCAP Meeting, co-organized by The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), on May 15, 2017, in Bangkok, Thailand. The status of on-going prototyping activities will be reported during this meeting.

- Seminar on "Space Education for Educators" will be hosted by NSM Thailand and JAXA on May 17-18, 2017

The National Science Museum Thailand (NSM)--which is one of the major contributors to STEM education in the country-- together with JAXA, announced a seminar that will aim to enhance STEM education through space science and technology-related activities. The conference also will focus on encouraging educators to become more interested in space education and acquire new knowledge and insights about advancements in space science that may be inspiring for the next generation and will provide an opportunity for educators in Thailand and Japan to communicate and share ideas and methods.

- JAXA and CNES to cooperate in Martian Moons Exploration

On April 10, JAXA and CNES (Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales) made an implementation arrangement on Martian Moons Exploration (MMX). This arrangement confers to JAXA and CNES a platform for collaboration. In the agreement, JAXA expects CNES to share technical expertise and render assistance in research pertaining to the near-infrared spectrometer (MacrOmega), the flight dynamics, and the feasibility of the small lander.

- GISTDA will hold an information session on the National Space Exploration 2017 project

As part of the National Space Exploration project, with the goal of space exploration by the Thai people, the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) is implementing a project titled "National Space Exploration 2017 (NSE 2017)," which is a space experiment research project. On April 26, GISTDA will hold a briefing event that will provide an overview of the project. NSE 2017 is currently calling for experiments that could be conducted in space, and the due date is April 30, 2017.

- KARI has announced a workshop for the National CubeSat contest 2017

On May 17, 2017, the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) will hold a workshop for graduate and undergraduate students in Korea who are interested in participating in the National CubeSat Contest. This is an educational event that will provide information on basic satellite design that is related to CubeSat development. This year's contest is already on-going. Entry submission will close on May 26, 2017.
