1. What inspired you to start the research activities (career) in space?

I was inspired to start my career in remote sensing for agriculture by my fascination with the potential of this technology to support more efficient and effective agricultural management. Agriculture is a critical industry for providing food and livelihoods, and I saw an opportunity to leverage remote sensing to improve the accuracy and timeliness of data collection, which could in turn inform better decision-making and planning. Additionally, I was motivated by the challenge of developing models and algorithms that could process and analyze the vast amounts of data generated by remote sensing, and translate this information into actionable insights for farmers, policymakers, and other stakeholders.

2. Please tell us one of the most challenging things in your research activities (or career). Having understood your challenges, what has motivated you to continue your research or career?

One of the most challenging things in my research career has been the need to balance technical expertise with practical application. While remote sensing can generate incredibly detailed and sophisticated data, it can be difficult to translate this information into real-world solutions that address the needs and constraints of farmers and other end-users. In order to overcome this challenge, I have had to develop strong communication skills and build collaborative partnerships with experts in agriculture, economics, and other fields. What has motivated me to continue my research career is the potential to make a meaningful impact on the lives and livelihoods of farmers, and to contribute to sustainable agriculture practices that benefit both people and the planet.

3. What is it for you to receive the APRSAF Award?

Receiving the APRSAF Award would be a great honor and recognition of the hard work and dedication that goes into developing remote sensing-based models for agriculture, my line of work. It would be a validation of the impact and practical application of my research, and could provide new opportunities for collaboration and sharing of knowledge and ideas with colleagues and stakeholders in the Asia-Pacific region.

4. Please give some messages to young researchers active in the space field in the Asia-Pacific.

To young researchers in the remote sensing for any field in the Asia-Pacific, I would encourage you to be persistent, innovative, and collaborative. Remote sensing is a rapidly advancing field, and there is always room for new ideas and approaches. However, it is important to maintain a focus on practical application and to engage with stakeholders in the field you work in and other related fields to ensure that your research is relevant and impactful. Additionally, building strong partnerships and networks is essential for success in this field, and collaboration can lead to new insights, approaches, and opportunities. Finally, remember that the ultimate goal of remote sensing application is to support sustainable, equitable, and efficient practices that benefit communities and the environment.
